The Saddest Thing
Yesterday I spent the entire day at the emergency room with my friend who was sick. Poor girl. The emergency room is no fun at all --- people screaming, nurses avoiding, lots of waiting. What was worse was the lady on the other side of the curtain next to us. She was probably about 50 years old. Completely dressed in workout gear - tennis shoes, tank top, running pants. And she was really out of it. As we waited literally hours to be helped, we listened as the doctors talked about her case. She was brought in because she fell off of a treadmill, hit her head, and had a seizure at the gym. The people at the gym brought her into the ER. So sad! I mean, this totally could have been me - I'm such a klutz like that. Even more sad was when the doctors came back a couple of hours later and told her that after looking at her brain scan, they found a tumor, and that's why she fell --- she actually passed out from the tumor. Can you believe it? This lady had no idea she had a tumor in her brain until she accidentally fell at the gym. She kept asking if they knew if it was cancer, and they couldn't tell her either way. We felt SO bad for her. Life can be so nuts!
